How much does radon testing cost?
Radon testing is simple, but it does take some time and care to complete. A radon test involves us installing one or more radon monitors for a minimum of 48 hours in the building to be tested.
At the end of the 48 hour period, we collect the devices and turn the data collected into a report that contains the results of the test.
What is Radon and why is testing important?
Radon is an invisible, odorless, tasteless radioactive gas that is naturally released from rocks, soil, and water. Radon exists everywhere, and outdoors, it is essentially a harmless background radiation.
However, radon can accumulate indoors after entering through a basement, crawlspace or slab foundation. According to the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, radon is the second-leading cause of lung cancer in the United States.
Important testing considerations:
- Tests take a minimum of 48 hours to complete.
- Requires "Closed door" conditions (no open windows, limited door usage).
- Radon monitors cannot be moved until the test is complete.
Where is Radon most prevalent?
The only way to know if your specific home has elevated levels is through testing. Radon mitigation systems are effective and help keep your family safe.
Use Florida-specific radon information.
The EPA publishes a Florida radon-zone map, but a zone designation does not predict the result for an individual home. Testing is the only way to determine the measured level in a specific property.
